Hi Andrew, fortunately or not I never really had any problems with Spike, after all he was the one who drove me to hospital after my appendix had burst whilst running round the school field (punishment by DH for having black plimsolls in the gym). He was also the one who gave me a blessing as I was trundled off to the operating theatre!

I agree that the school being taken away would have been a heavy blow especially as he was a part of the set up of the school from Day 1 and before.

: I had a vague idea that Spike had passed about now in January, and upon checking realised it's just about the 40th anniversary of his death.

: Wow, despite what you may think, good or bad, he had such a strong and passionate vision for 'his school' and we were part of that vision. Such a shame that St Oggs didn't last long at all. Yes it was weird in its way, but you never forget those days.

: I wonder if taking the school off him effectively dealt him a blow from which he never recovered. Wouldn't be surprised.

: No doubt he's organising something 'up there' and being a general PITA, which is what he excelled at....

: "well good on ya' y'old bastard" as they say here and in oZ, or the West Island as we call it.....
