Yes, I can remember the fields before Civic Centre, and also when the M56 (close to our old house) wasn't there, also fields which were good for messing about in. I also remeber walking to the airport, and paying two whole pence to stand on the roof of the building to watch the planes - wouldn't be allowed now of course.....
