Cordial Greeting to all former boys and staff at this great school during the festive period of Christmas - the time of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem when Christ came among us and as one of us.
May I also extend my sincere felicitations to all parents of our boys and to all friends of St Augustine's Grammar School.
At this juncture in time, it would be traditional to announce the school's reopening for the Lent term early in January. Alas this happy occasion, to which we all anticipated with expectancy of the term to come, has not occurred for some years now. This announcement was a time when we started to look forward to the eager return of our boys after their recuperation during the Christmas vacation after their endevours throughout the Michaelmas term. The onset of the Lent term is also a time when we looked forward to the annual voluntary contributions to the Organ Fund. It is a great disappointment that there has been no formal Organ fund contribtions since the 1980s and may I remind any parent who still has not made their annual voluntary contribution for those final years to do so as soon as is possible. I have only asked for £1-00 each year which can be still received as a cheque payable to "St Augustine's Granmmar School Organ Fund".
The Organ itself is, as you all know, now re-instated at her Majesty's pleasure at the Chapel at Newbold Revel. Some parents appear to be under the erroneous impression that the Oran fund has been stopped - I can assure you all that the Organ Fund has not been stopped.
Can we ask that all future contributions are directed towards that establishment in order that this Great Organ maybe accorded a fitting status in its new situation and its sonerous and melodious tones may be heard for years to come.
I wish all families of the boys every blessing and happiness at this time.
