I actually think Spike was a closet Anglican.
Look at the parsons neck garment he wote.Also most of the hymns were traditional Anglican ones.e.g Onward Christian Soldiers.
The altar boys wore red cassocks, whereas I thought the normal RC colour was black (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
I saw him a few times outside of school wearing a collar and tie. One time was at the departure lounge at Ringway airport. The announcement came up "Will Mr Mcguinness travelling to so-and-so please report to so-and so's desk" Surely enough Mr Mcguiness reported to the desk.
He certainly was an enigma.
