I admit that Gatley wasn't exactly the hotbed of verbal abuse that other areas were... but... you try carrying a violoncello to and from school!! It makes French horns, violins, euphoniums and even bassoons seem easy by comparison.

I have to admit though, that whilst the choir strove for excellence, the orchestra wasn't even good enough to strive for mediocrity. Why on earth did Spike allow the fantstic choral rendition of 'Break Forth' to be hijacked by such an abject noise?

I agree with previous correspondents that Christmas 'started' when we had performed in the Carol Concert and having sat though my son's secondary school's Christmas Carol Concert last week, only good memories came back to me.
